Punch Up Media is a boutique film, television and audio production company that was founded in 2022 and draws on a team of award winning national journalists.
It was created to tell compelling, non-fiction stories through formats such as television, streaming documentary films and podcasts. It also focuses on productions with the potential to be developed further, as dramatic adaptations in films inspired by the true stories we unearth.
Managing Director and Co-Founder
Julia has almost three decades of experience in national media having spent 24 years at the Guardian, serving as head of business and consumer coverage for more than ten years, as well as working as a reporter, editor, head of department and as duty editor of the newspaper.
Her time as business editor included responsibility for business and finance coverage at theguardian.com and in the Observer, and saw her team scoop multiple awards for investigative and undercover reporting.
Julia has appeared on TV, radio and Guardian podcasts, usually as an expert commentator on business and economics.
Prior to joining the Guardian she worked at the Daily Express, variously as a reporter, deputy City editor and Women’s Editor.
She is a keen sports fan, especially cricket and football, and supporter of women’s sport.
Non-Executive Director and Co-Founder
In 2016 Alex started his own London-based corporate advisory firm, Almos International, where today he is the Managing Partner focusing on advising UK clients across financial and professional services, technology, private equity, real estate, energy and sport. He has nearly 20 years’ career experience and for the past decade has held both executive and non-executive management and board roles at UK companies across construction, technology and corporate finance.
His client experience includes BP PLC, Man Group PLC, TD Synnex Corporation (SNX), First Reserve, Denham Capital, PrivatBank, HomeCredit, PPF Investments, Hogan Lovells and Partners Capital, McLaren Formula 1 and Arsenal Football Club.
He is currently a Non-Executive Director of REalyse, the UK’s leading residential property data and analytics company, and ALPE Capital, a specialist real estate finance business.
Alex is a lifelong Arsenal fan.
